1. Message of the Day

Oh No! The "D" Word

DISCIPLINE is doing what you ought to do now so you
can do what you want to do later and have what you want to have later.

Often discipline takes the form of what we call "baby steps."
By doing sushi-sized activities we find that before long we have done more than we thought we could accomplish. The house begins to transform slowly but surely as we commit to just doing a little bit consistently whether we feel like it or not.
  • We may make a list and cross items off slowly but surely.
  • We may set the alarm on the kitchen clock for just five minutes and boogie for a short time.
  • We may make a list of three to five things and go for those with vigor.
  • Possibly we will get our new Flipper and check off items there.
  • Or probably most powerful of all, we decide to follow the habit of "If you get it out, put it up --- right away." or the rule, "If it takes 30 seconds or less to do it, do it immediately."
  • Or any other habit on The Organizer Lady that meets your need.

Start doing what you ought to do now and you will be surprised about what it will free you up to do and have as time goes by.

3. Habit of the Day

Don't foul your own nest.

One reason the house is so hard to maintain is because without realizing it, you (and/or others) are messing up faster behind our self than the clean up you are doing. The cause -- careless habits.

--------------------------------------

Here is an easier way to think about the daily jobs!

  1. Bed made daily and kept clear
  2. Clear dining room table
  3. Sink clear as you keep things moving
  4. Inspiration Point guarded from clutter
These are known as The Four Legs of the Organizing Table on which much organizing success rests! This information and much more can be found on the How to Begin page at

4. Family Reminder of the Day

In our family, we strive to complete projects and clean up expeditiously.

In our family, the person who uses the last sheet of toilet
paper puts new roll on the roller.

5. Quote of the Day

Every worthwhile accomplishment has a price tag
attached to it.
The question is always whether you are willing to pay the price to attain it
-- in hard work, sacrifice, patience, faith, and endurance.

John C. Maxwell

6. Question of The Day

Notice the words of the John Maxwell's quote above.
How do the qualities of hard work, sacrifice, patience, faith, and endurance fit into your accomplishing your goals? Write about your reflection.

Tell us by posting on Friends-of-The-Organizer-Lady.

7. From the Trenches

"...we need to turn the Golden Rule around and treat
ourselves as we would like to be -- or wish we had been -- treated by others. The commandment to 'love
your neighbor as yourself' wasn't meant to suggest that we should treat everyone else as shabbily as we feel we deserve to be treated."

MESSIES ANONYMOUS SLOGAN

Please memorize this slogan and post it on your wall.

The secret to success is making very small, yet very consistent, changes.

Or to make it short; Baby steps, baby steps in the right direction.
