EASY and SAVING

Three powerful words. When I am tempted to procrastinate doing a little something like hanging up a jacket, emptying the trash, spending 15 minutes neatening, my three words are these

"Oh! Why not?"

Works for me. What are yours?

1. Message of the Day

EASE OF RETURN AND RETRIEVAL

Ask yourself two questions as you organize your storage.

1. Will this item be easy to return?

2. Will this item be easy to get out?

If what you need is hard to reach when you need to retrieve it -- you will frustrate yourself. If what you have gotten out is difficult to return you will be tempted to leave it out rather than struggle to put it back.

Several secrets are important:

Do not crowd your items into storage space. It is hard to work with jammed in things.

Put your grouped items into baskets and label the baskets with bold print (and maybe a picture especially if you have kids) so you will know where things are located.

Put the baskets on shelves. Make your items easy to return and retrieve.

Your organizational life will benefit.

7. From the Trenches

SAVING THE LAST LITTLE BIT

I find myself panicking when I use the last of something, like there HAS to be a replacement. It's taking some huge efforts on my part to actually USE the last of the shampoo and just throw the bottle out. Not save it for next time when adding water can extend it or whatever. I don't know why it's so hard to throw out a shampoo bottle, but I am using up stuff that has 1 or 2 shampoos left right now and throwing them away. The better the product is, the harder it is to use it up...kind of like I save it for those 'just In case' days where I might want to look good or whatever. I do the same in the kitchen,I hate to eat the last of something, even though I live alone and end up throwing it away. At least the food stuff I understand from being raised in a large family where it was considered rude to eat the last piece of cake or whatever without asking others if they had a piece. But it's just me here, and more stuff goes to waste out of this idea of not wanting to waste it by using it.

(Thanks, Tam)
