DISPOSABLES and BUYING IN BULK

Failure is seldom caused by a major catastrophe.
It is a series of little failures. Success is the same.
Create small successes.

1. Message of the Day - DISPOSABLES

Manufacturers are making new products that may work out really well for Messies and the way they like to do things. I'm talking about the towelettes or wipes that come in a plastic box or canister and are easy to pop out like a tissue. While it is not perfect, they simplify the whole process of cleaning in a way that works for many and provide the variety that Messies enjoy.

This approach makes it easy to start. Messies often get stuck in the process of getting out the equipment, finding the rag and proper cleaner, mixing it, and doing whatever else necessary to do a wipe up job. With the little canister sitting out on the counter, that step is eliminated and the Messie is free to impulsively and quickly wipe up the area.

This approach makes it easy to stop. When the job is done the used wipe is disposed of responsibly. Nothing could be simpler. No rag to wash, no water to dispose of, to dust to shake outside in the air.

They are not the total answer to cleaning. But I betcha if you (and your family!) keep those little jobbies readily at hand and use them more or less regularly, the house will take on an overall brighter shine.

3. Habit of the Day

Keep short accounts on putting things up as you work.
(M.A. Newest Motto is STOW AS YOU GO!)

As you cook, wash and dry your pots, pans, etc. or put them in the dishwasher as you go.

As you do a project, keep your tools and pieces corralled and put them away immediately.

When you clean, return cleaning products and tools immediately. Otherwise you will leave more mess behind than you clean up.

4. Family Reminder of the Day

Pick one of these reminders or make one of your own to share with your family each day.

In our family, we put dishes into the dishwasher not the sink.

In our family, we take responsibility for completing the chores assigned to us.

5. Quote of the Day

The best things in life aren't things.

7. From the Trenches

To someone who buys in bulk:

My first suggestion is to STOP buying in bulk, if you aren't going to use it very quickly. All that does is add more clutter to an already small area. I understand that you don't want to waste the money that you have put into buying these extra products you have bought, so why not think about making up a few gift baskets with the shampoos and whatnot?

MESSIES ANONYMOUS SLOGAN

Please memorize this slogan and post it on your wall.

The secret to success is making very small, yet very consistent, changes.

Or to make it short; Baby steps, baby steps in the right direction.

Never underestimate the inevitability of gradualness.
