HANDLING PAPER (UGH!)

Three problems with paper:

  1. General Fear of Scarcity. Fear of needing something so we keep it all! IRS, bills, contracts, etc. Paper holds a lot of important information we are afraid of losing.
  2. Decision Problem. Fear of decision making when putting it up as in a file. Have I made the right choice of where I put it, how labeled the file?
  3. Retrieval Problem. Fear of losing it in a file or a pile so we make lots of little special piles for our special papers that eventually get lost in all of our special places.

Face your fears by setting up a system that works for you, by asking for outside help if that is possible, and generally tackling the task of handling the papers of your life.

Today, decide what you are going to do about your paper problem! Then just do it!

3. Habit of the Day

"NO BELONGING LEFT BEHIND"

Take something out of place each time you go in the
direction it belongs. Neat, organized people owe a lot of their neatness to this habit.

4. Family Reminder of the Day

In our family, we put dishes into the dishwasher, not the sink.

In our family, we take responsibility for completing the
chores assigned to us.

5. Quote of the Day

7. From the Trenches

USING UP STUFF

I have a problem! As the bottle gets close to empty, I STOP
using it, saving it for what I don't know. Especially expensive things like perfume, expensive conditioner, 'good' makeup or moisturizer, etc. And razors! I had about 20 half used' But I have been working on it, and on allowing myself to use almost all of something before buying a replacement, rather than having six backups just in case. And I actually threw out some stuff! Some diaper ointment samples (my dd is 6, 4 yrs out of diapers!) and other miscellaneous mystery stuff. Some stuff I couldn't throw out this week, but I'm hoping I will be able to convince myself to throw it out next week.

MESSIES ANONYMOUS SLOGAN

Please memorize this slogan and post it on your wall.

The secret to success is making very small, yet very consistent, changes.
Or to make it short; Baby steps, baby steps in the right direction.

Never underestimate the inevitability of gradualness.
