MAKING VOWS and BUSINESS CARDS
We have to be willing to make some changes in the way we
think if we are ever going to make permanent changes in our houses.

2. Message of the Day
MAKING VOWS Are you succeeding in your program? If not, what
change do you need to make? Maybe you should: * Make a vow to yourself to move
forward one more step. Set a deadline. * To strengthen that vow further, plan to
reward yourself when you take that step. * Or further make a vow for a negative
consequence if you don't take that step by your deadline. Consider something
like giving money to a cause you dislike (something you really do not want to
do) or not buying anything at all until you keep your vow to yourself. These are
not normal steps of the program. They are, however, techniques we can use in
special circumstances when we are stuck and not moving forward in general or in
one challenging area.
---------------------------------------------
3. Habit of the Day Commit for just this one day.
LEAVE NO TRACE We Messies tend to use the
Hansel and Gretel rule and leave a trail behind us, showing where we have been.
The scouts have a rule that when you leave an area you should leave no trace
that you have been there. That is the Leave No Trace rule. Which rule will you
follow?
---------------------------------------------
4. Family Reminder of the Day
Pick one of these reminders or make one of your own to share with your
family each day. In our family, we put things back where we got them right away.
In our family, we make our beds before we leave our room in the morning.
---------------------------------------------
5. Quote of the Day
Fatigue makes cowards of us all. Vince Lombardi Are you taking good care of yourself. Are you
drinking enough water? Are you eating well, getting enough rest, tending to
medical needs. Dear one, please stop and focus on whether you are so tired
because you need to take better care of yourself.

6. Question of the Day
Do you have a spot in your life where you are stuck? If so, what vow will you make? Are you
willing to share that with us and report on how it works out? Tell us by posting
on Friends-of-The-Organizer-Lady.

7. From the Trenches
I have a small album specifically for business cards which I got from an office supply
store. Each page has room for 4 business cards (8 if you put them back to back)
which go into clear plastic sleeves like a photo album. I have a page which
contains cards from the doctors I go to, one for the vets for my cats, a page
with cards from the plumber, electrician, furnace people & cable company, about
3 for cards from our favorite restaurants so we can make reservations or call up
for delivery, I even have my sisters' business cards from where they work so I
can call them during working hours if necessary, and one with my boss' work
phone, home phone, and cell phone number if I need to call in. It sits right
next to my telephone and has been quite handy. I add updated or new cards as I
get them and very seldom do I lack for an important phone number. If I don't
have a card I cut out a card sized piece of paper and just write down the
information. I like the business cards better than just writing the addresses
and phone numbers in an address book because they often list office/open hours,
e-mail addresses, and websites. (Thanks to Aleen)

MESSIES ANONYMOUS SLOGAN
Please memorize this slogan and post it on your wall.
The secret to success is making very small, yet very consistent, changes. Or to make
it short, "Baby steps, baby steps" in the right direction.

the inevitability of gradualness." Anonymous
