TWO WAYS TO FIND NEATNESS and PERFECTIONISM
Start maintaining as soon as you start improving.
Guard any clear space you create.
Avoid the "clutter and clean" roller coaster.
It takes grit and focus but you can do it.
Keep moving forward.

1. Message of the Day

TWO WAYS TO FIND NEATNESS

They tell us that if we want to lose weight we need to do two things - eat less and exercise more. Consistently doing these two, even if it is a little at a time will eventually get us down to the weight we want to be.

Keeping a neat house is the same way.
Mess up a little less and clean up a little more.

"Mess up a little less," means changing habits so we don't clutter things up during our daily living.

"Clean up a little more" means to do a little each day to take care of debris that is messing up the house.

Doing these consistently will inevitably lead to an organized and well maintained house.

"Never underestimate the inevitability of gradualness."

2. Habit of the Day

Commit for just this one day.

JUST DO IT - Do not wait till you feel like it. Just move your body through the motions
like a robot if that is all you can do. Face the fact that some things do not inspire.
It is nice to want to. But do not wait for the humor to hit you. Just do it.
You might want to set a timer for just ten or fifteen minutes and say to yourself what
someone on the group has said, "Only fifteen minutes, then I can quit."
-----------------------------

3. Family Reminder of the Day

Pick one of these reminders or make one of your own
to share with your family each day.

In our family, everybody puts their dishes in the washer.

In our family, we leave the bathroom clean after we bathe.

4. Quote of the Day

"We must be willing to make an intelligent compromise with perfection lest we wait forever before taking action."

David J. Schwartz
from "The Magic of Thinking Big"

5. Question of the Day

Do you have enough support as you make your change?
Do you need to seek out a ClutterBuddy either on line or in your area? Perhaps this is the time to align yourself with someone in the Friends-of-The-Organizer-Lady group whom you can email privately for additional support. If you have not joined that group, perhaps today is the day you should.

6. From the Trenches by Ella

You don't have to do it "right" the first time.
Housework done poorly is better than housework not done at all.

Only the perfectionist in us "has" to have it done perfectly. Waiting until I could get it done perfectly or right is what got me so far behind in the first place.

MESSIES ANONYMOUS SLOGAN

Please memorize this slogan and post it on your wall.

The secret to success is making very small, yet very consistent, changes.

Or to make it short, "Baby steps, baby steps" in the right direction.
