We have to be willing to make some changes in the way we think if we are ever going to make permanent changes in our houses.

1. Message of the Day

TIRED OF THE DRAMA

The girlfriend of a Messie wrote about her boyfriend's repeated personal crises brought on by his disorganized lifestyle, "I am tired, tired, tired of the drama."

In the end, being worn down by the strain our lives are under is what moves many of us to another way of life. Like Rhett Butler in the movie, "Gone with the Wind," we say to ourselves as we strive to leave clutter behind, "I want peace. I want to see if somewhere there isn't something left in life of charm and grace."

Just as Rhett left Scarlett, the girlfriend decided to walk away from the relationship. She refused to continue her involvement with chaos and stress.

To the extent we can find the strength to walk away from our own disorder and confusion we will find peace, charm, and grace in our lives. And what a difference!

2. Did You Know?

Here are two ideas to establish consistency with daily habits.

First - Get familiar with "The 4 Legs of the Organizing Table" on which much organizing success rests!
  1. Bed made daily and kept clear
  2. Clear dining room table
  3. Sink kept clear as you keep things moving
  4. Inspiration point guarded from clutter
Second - Consider using our system to gently guide you in a fun way to keep up with the maintenance and continual de-cluttering of your home. Perhaps The K.I.S.S. (Keep It Super Simple) Flipper Method for Home Organizing and Maintenance will work for you?

3. Habit of the Day

MAIL

Open your mail while standing over the trash can or recycle bin.

Discard junk mail before it touches any surface in your house.
--------------------------------------

4. Family Reminder of the Day

In our family, we don't boss others. We focus on our own responsibilities.

In our family, we speak kindly to one another.

5. Quote of the Day

There are many things that will interest you, but only a few things that will excite you. Pursue those.

6. Question of The Day

A while back, we asked whether you had any projects that needed to be started in order to solve problems that have held on too long. But today the question is
whether you can name just one boring, half- finished project that needs to be completed. Look around and spy just one thing. Tell us what you see and will start to tackle.

Tell us by posting on Friends-of-The-Organizer-Lady.

7. From the Trenches

TRASHING E-MAIL

Don't be afraid to Trash things:

One thing that I noted when I began to look around at my habits is that my email mirrored my total "overwhelm" by paper.

Now, if I don't read every message from a list server, I feel OK just trashing it -- there will be more good stuff coming in, and having it pile up to become a "to do" item just was making me sick.

I don't save those messages, even the ones from The Organizer Lady, I have confidence that I can get rid of them and that there will be more good stuff coming. If I miss a few, it's going to be OK.

I can trash things without fear, because I AM IN CONTROL!

8. More Info

This is a simple program. We stick with the basics as they are presented in these messages. Keep reading. Keep adding one part of the program at a time.

Repetition is important.
Forward to friends if desired but not to other sites.
Read this whole posting or only what you can take in today, then delete it.

Don't forget the daily reminders!!! Do you have a copy posted somewhere?

9. Extra Help:

Are you still interested in getting organized?
Did you know that there is a hands-on program to help people just like you get more organized?
It’s conducted virtually by teleconference and gets you to make progress every single session.

MESSIES ANONYMOUS SLOGAN

Please memorize this slogan and post it on your wall.

The secret to success is making very small, yet very consistent, changes.

Or to make it short; Baby steps, baby steps in the right direction.
