TO-DO LIST and EXALTATION!

Try to keep the floor as bare as possible.
It's easier to keep clean that way and looks much neater.

1. Message of the Day

TO-DO LIST

Your TO-DO list is your memory for changeable daily items like:

• Do At Home - plan for the birthday party
• Write - about class reunion or do e-mail
• Call - the children's camp
• On the Go - take the clothes to the charity store

You may use one page for a day or two or more.
You don't need to carry these little details around in
your head. Free your mind and write them down.

Print out a copy of my To-Do list from
http://messies.com/images/pdf/divided%20to%20do%20list.pdf

If you want to make your own personal design of the
To-Do List, you can use this helpful bit from Reminders
and How-To's

DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO MAKE A TO-DO LIST BOOK

A little list on a small slip will not do. They get lost
and they are uninspiring. Make a larger TO-DO list
and put it in a notebook.

Fold a letter-sized piece of paper into four equal blocks.

Label the blocks with the location where you are going
to do the activity.
  • Do at Home
  • Write
  • On the Go
  • Call
Punch holes in the paper and store your to-do lists in a
notebook which has a clear plastic cover in which you
insert a title such as CATHY'S TO-DO LIST.

Beside each entry, place a small box to be checked off
when you have completed the task.

NOTE: The idea of the four boxes was first shared with
me by professional organizer, Marsha Sims http://www.sortitout.net

2. New Habit of the Day

Commit for just this one day.

CLEAN AND STRAIGHTEN AS YOU GO

Keep short accounts on putting things up as you work.
As you cook, wash and dry your pots, pans, etc., or put
them in the dishwasher as you go.

As you do a project, keep your tools and pieces corralled
and put them away immediately.

When you clean, return cleaning products and tools
immediately. Otherwise you will leave more mess behind
than you clean up.

Remember and use the MA Official Battle Cry: STOW AS YOU GO!

3. Family Reminder of the Day

Pick one of these reminders or make one of your own
to share with your family each day.

In our family, we move the garbage cans out of sight
when they are emptied at the curb.

In our family, we clear the table and clean the kitchen together.

5. Quote of the Day

If it's to be, its up to me.

Take charge of your life. You are the only one who can -- or should.
----------------------------------------------

6. Question of The Day

Do you have a spot in your life where you are stuck? If so,
make a vow with a negative consequence to do it. What
vow will you make? Are you willing to share that with us
and report on how it works out?

Tell us by posting on Friends-of-The-Organizer-Lady.

7. From the Trenches

Exaltation!

So now I am here. I have arrived.

For now I can visualize in great detail for the first time
the other phases of this project:
  • Sort and file my papers
  • De-stain, repair and hang up my clothes
  • Convert my second bathroom into a library lined with bookcases
  • Sort my other possessions into permanent possession boxes with labeled categories and place on shelves around abode
  • Paint my walls, in pretty, already-picked-out colors
  • Decorate
Now those phases don't seem like work at all. They seem
simple and easy, because I have come over the mountain.
I have reached the summit and planted my flag. Saying:

"Hey, world. Here I am. And it will be all coasting from here."

MESSIES ANONYMOUS SLOGAN

Please memorize this slogan and post it on your wall.

The secret to success is making very small, yet very consistent, changes.

Or to make it short, Baby steps, baby steps, in the right direction.

Never underestimate the inevitability of gradualness.
