EMPATHY and LITTLE BIT

Image result for write it down

It takes a long time for Messies to get ourselves together organizationally. By night our minds seem more alert. We finally focus but we are too tired to do it.
Unfortunately by morning somehow it has drifted away. That's why many efficiency experts say to write your list for the next day before you go to bed.

1. Message of the Day

Empathy

In our struggle to loose ourselves from the entangling net of clutter, we may lose sight of an important factor in the whole drama.

It is not just about us.
In this world in which aggressive self-interest is not only accepted but encouraged, have we neglected that most tender of all virtues, empathy.

Empathy is imagining the impact of our actions on others. We need to ask ourselves how our clutter affects others who live with us. Is the peace of our family undermined because the house doesn't look good. They may hesitate to ask friends and others in. Nor does the house work well and they are stressed trying to meet basic needs. If they are children and have known nothing else, perhaps they are used to it but they are losing valuable experiences of comfort and joy that an orderly and pleasant home affords. They are not learning organizational skills.

Perhaps spotlighting what clutter does to others will not just sadden us (though it may well do that), but also heighten our resolve to make difficult changes for those all important others in our lives.

7. From the Trenches

Every Little Bit

Yesterday I cleaned out a small box of accumulated pet supplies that had been setting on our side patio (dog collars, leashes, brushes, etc.). I had identified a home for all these items and was thrilled when I totally emptied that one box and placed these items in their new home. I even collected some pet items from other areas of the home and now all the pet supplies are all in one place (except the pet shampoo that lives in our bathroom!). Every little bit helps, right?

Thanks to Ginger in California

Yes, Ginger, definitely every little bit helps.
