1. Message of the Day
DON'T "CLEAN UP"
As you cook, throw away trash, cuttings, scraps and the like into the trash can as you handle them. As much as possible, empty, wash, dry, and put away any pot as soon as it is empty. Put dishes directly into the dishwasher. Don't let debris and clutter accumulate. Then when you are ready to leave the kitchen, all you have to do is wipe up.
Do the same with the bathroom, returning all used items to their place as you use them. Give the fixtures a quick wiping from time to time and go, maintaining a neat and clean bathroom.
In the bedroom, pull up the spread, return books, jewelry, and the like as you use them. A quick dusting and/or dust mopping from time to time will leave it welcoming for you when you return.
Don't plan to go back and "clean up" the rooms.
Just don't let them get messy!
Remember to "STOW AS YOU GO!"

3. Habit of the Day
FOLLOW THE RULE OF TEN (THROW AWAY THINGS)
Gather ten things to throw away. Get them in the trash immediately.
Sometimes we give away things but today we are asked to just toss them out. Surely there are ten things that can hit the trash can today.

4. Family Reminder of the Day
In our family, we strive to complete projects and clean up expeditiously.
In our family, the person who uses the last sheet of toilet paper puts a new roll on the roller.

5. Quote of the Day
It's not what you do once in a while, it's what you do day in and day out that makes the difference.

7. From the Trenches
POSITIVE APPROACH (LONG BUT GOOD)
Losing weight is like losing junk?
I have always had weight problems, tried many, many diets and programs, etc. The one that worked best for me had a philosophy that might apply to getting the house in order.
During the first week of this "weight-loss program" I was to concentrate on adding a good habit to my day, like drinking 8 cups of water, every day for at least a week. I was not asked to "give up" anything. The next week I concentrated on adding another good habit, like eating at least 3 servings of vegetables each day, while keeping up the drinking of 8 glasses of water.
All of a sudden I thought, this routine might be helpful to someone who feels "stuck in mire of stuff," or maybe doesn't see how they can manage to do 15 minutes, even once a day. Or maybe you know the next few weeks will be too full of activities to do a lot of extra cleaning.
How about concentrating on adding one good habit to you daily routine for a week, and then adding a second? It might work to approach the overwhelming chores in a positive manner, similar to my program having me add something good, without badgering me to "not do" something bad.
So, maybe you can't invest any time on de-cluttering; try to add a habit to your day, one at a time...like making your bed every morning, opening and taking care of the day's mail, doing dishes every night or morning. (These three
suggestions I have slowly added to my routine and have helped my desire to continue moving in the right direction!)
Hope this helps someone...Mary
