Message of the Day - EFFICIENCY We want to be CAPABLE, can-do people who finally get on top of the problem of clutter. We want to be COMPETENT. Competent means "adequate." We want to be EFFECTIVE. That means "accomplishing the desired effect." But most of all we want to be EFFICIENT, "productive without waste." That means we want to get our job accomplished with the least effort possible. When we look around at our friends' houses, we often see they live orderly lives with what seems to be a minimum of work. Organizing the house is not rocket science. It does not require much training. What it does require is focusing on a few important principles consistently. What it all boils down to something very simple --- organizing basics and good habits. -------------------------------------- 2. More Help for Efficiency Here! The NEW and IMPROVED K.I.S.S. From the Trenches - ROUTINES The thing that has helped me stay on track is routines. I know it sounds dull and boring, but I have added a few things to my morning and evening routines and voila! I just do them without thinking. I follow Sandra's list: get up, make up the bed, etc. After taking care of myself for a couple of months, I did another important thing: I helped my 4 yr DD make a list of HER morning routine. I let her choose pictures [from a small selection] and wrote beside it what it was. We hung it inside the closet, and I have her look at it every morning. After we finished it, my husband said he thought it would be helpful for grownups, too. DD has had her list for 2 weeks, and hardly refers to it but knows what to do. We're going to make a night routine next. We move to our new home in 4 weeks. I'll do one for my husband then, too. -------------------------------------- 8.
