Message of the Day OVERDOING We overdo. We apply this approach to many things. We overdo on clothing. We want things to be perfect for every occasion so we must have a great variety in order to have just the right thing. We need the right purse size, style, and color for every outfit and occasion. We overdo on planning and tend to do too many jobs from our Flipper or whatever approach we take for scheduling. Once you have your totally complete list (which may knock you to your knees when you see it all written down), go back and delete as much as you can. Cut out half of them, or even eighty percent. If you did only those few that are left consistently, your house would probably take a giant leap forward. If we are going to write a book, we overdo there too and gather more research than we can handle. If we cook or sew, we accumulate tons of recipes, patterns, material, and the like. We have too many hobbies and take on too many jobs. So we buy too much. We think we need exactly the right size refrigerator dishes so we gather a lot of different sizes (and plenty of them, to meet our possible need.) We run out of places to store them. When they are stored, we have trouble accessing them and finding the matching tops. All of these efforts are because we want to do everything so very right. But the result of all this overdoing can be oh-so-wrong. Remember the K.I.S.S. slogan. Keep It Super Simple. Fight the urges that lead you to excess. Less often really is more. Don't try to do everything perfectly or have everything you think you might need. Be casual and, to borrow a Nike slogan --- just do it. -------------------------------------- 2. Did You Know?
